Remote IT support for a small business: what should a monthly plan include?

A practical checklist for Belgian small businesses comparing monthly IT support with one-off assistance.

Start with the work your team actually does

A monthly support plan makes sense when everyday IT interruptions repeatedly take time away from your business. Begin with an inventory of the devices, accounts and applications your team relies on. Include shared mailboxes, remote workers and the person who approves changes. This gives both parties a clear starting point instead of an open-ended promise.

Make the scope clear before comparing prices

Ask which routine issues are covered: email access, device troubleshooting, user account changes and coordination with software providers are useful examples. Separate everyday support from migrations, major upgrades and new installations. Ask how requests are prioritised, when support is available and what happens if the issue cannot be solved remotely. An hour cap and a response commitment are different things; one does not imply the other.

Plan visits around a reason

A weekly visit is not automatically the best use of your budget. Physical equipment failures, cabling changes and office moves may need a visit; many account or software issues can be investigated remotely. Agree how travel, on-site time and approval work. Keep a list of suitable tasks for a planned visit so the time has a clear purpose.

How DGNEXA approaches ongoing care

Remote Care is based on a fixed monthly fee for everyday remote support within the agreed scope, without an hourly allowance. On-site visits, licences, hardware and projects are quoted separately. Support times and priorities are agreed in advance. It can complement an internal employee or provide an external point of contact. Bring a short list of recurring problems to the first conversation; the right plan follows from those needs.
